Lori is just settling in to her new life in the castle. She is studying healing under the Empress’s personal healer and even making some friends among the nobles.
Her new life is derailed, however, when Shadow sets off on a dangerous mission without her. Unable to bear the thought of Shadow in danger, Lori sets out after him, risking the displeasure of both the Council and the man who took her on as his ward. But an even greater danger awaits Lori as she follows her old friend’s trail into uncharted lands.
