Like I said in my last post, I’m having a hard time finding the inspiration to write anything. I do have an idea that feels like it might go somewhere if I keep noodling it around. It’s a paranormal noir-ish detective series. Now, there are plenty of great works in the noir detective genre and even in the paranormal noir detective genre, so I have to make sure that I have a unique spin on the subject.
I actually think I do have a pretty unique spin and I even have the beginnings of the plot, but that’s where I’m stuck. I think it’s fair to say that mystery/detective plots are the hardest to create. You have to have twists, an early plot that seems unrelated but later ties into the “big reveal,” and red herrings. And you have to have a good twist, one that people who read a lot of mystery stories won’t see coming.
So right now I’m reading murder mysteries and reviewing my crime and mystery related writing books.
