Well, Color Me Impressed

So, a few years ago when my sister was heading off to college, I bought her a laptop (as my parents did for me when I was that age, paying it forward kind of thing). It was one of those Systemax brands from TigerDirect.com. I was a bit hesitant about not going with a "name" brand, but having seen two Dells commit suicide and having troubles with my Gateway laptop, I figured it couldn't be much worse. I also sprang for the 3 Year Parts and Labor Warranty because by my estimation laptops only last about 2 years.
Well, cut to almost exactly two years later and my sister's laptop is randomly shutting off its screen and just in general not working right. I gave my dad the support number (since he's at home with the laptop). He called, gave them the serial number, and they were like "Yep, you're covered. We're printing you a UPS mailing label. Box it up and ship it to us." Dad was also impressed that the guy on the other end spoke English as a first language (He's had to deal with Dell support A LOT).
I mean, we'll see if they actually manage to fix the thing, but so far I'm impressed with how on top of things they are. And the fact that they aren't trying to jerk us around with a bunch of "reboot this" and "maybe its a graphics driver issue." I can't remember exactly what it cost, like $200 or something, but I'd say so far I'm getting my money's worth with the extended warranty.
