Remember That New Year’s Resolution to Post Everyday…

Yeah, that went down the toilet pretty quick. Ah well. At least I’m sorta kinda keeping to my New Year’s resolution to write a novel a month. Except it got changed to 2,000 words a day. Which changed to 2,000 words a WORK day, with weekends off. Which changed to 1,000 words a work day. But hey I’m still hanging in there.

My original goal for this month was to finish the current novel I’m working on, another in the Peacekeeper series. Well, I hit the 50,000 word mark last week, but it seems to be only a little more than halfway done. Still 50,000 words is 100 pages typed, so I’m counting that as a win.

I owe it all to the Lynn Flewelling (she’s on lj!) books that [info]kitty_bandit loaned me. They are awesome and I read all 4 Nightrunner books marathon-style in the last 2 weeks. (Mom borrowed the Bone Doll Twin books so I haven’t gotten a chance to read them yet). I used to be worried about reading in the same genre as I’m writing, but it turns out that reading really good fiction (of any genre) just inspires me to write in my own. Although, I confess that reading the Nightrunner series makes my own writing feel kind of inadequate. But the important thing is to write, and write I shall.

Anyway, I was hoping to finish this novel before November so I can start a new novel for NaNo WriMo, but I’d have to kick out something like 20-40,000 words in the next week, and find time to outline, pre-write, and character sketch for the new novel, so we’ll see. Oh, and figure out which novel idea shall be wrimo-ed (you like that? I made that up just now) this year. Right now I’m torn between a fantasy novel and a vampire novel. Neither idea has been flesh out enough to make me confident it, so the decider will probably be whichever’s easiest to bang out an outline for.

So, without further ado, I bring you the writing box. You love it, don’t lie:
